Welcome!

Dates for meetings for the rest of the year:

  • April 19- discuss plans for the end of the year and next year
  • May 10- All hours are DUE for all members
    • Awards of certificates for all members and cords/ tassels for seniors
    • Bring your Artist Trading Cards to trade with friends at the meeting.

All meetings will be at 7:45 in room 7302.

Members cannot miss more than 3 meetings for the year.

Make sure all community service is preapproved by Ms. Haslett or Ms. Meyer prior to completing the service. You cannot have hours count for more than one club/ organization.

Volunteer opportunities-

  • Art Room Clean Up
    • Every Monday and Tuesday, students can come check in with Ms. Haslett, Ms. Meyer or Ms. Painter to offer cleaning/organizing assistance from 3:30- 4:30. Double check with the teachers to make sure they are available.
  • Help with Bee Club
    • Assist in making a bee feeding bowl
    • See Hannah Menhart for more information
  • Artist Trading Cards
  • End of the Year Celebration
    • May 10th– 7:45 AM> Awards of certificates for all members and cords/ tassels for seniors

  • NAHS Awards Exhibition
    • Students who have had work in juried shows or won awards for an artwork this year are invited to submit work for this exhibition by May 1st.
    • Exhibition- will be May 10th– May 12th. Reception for the Exhibition will be May 10th from 4- 6 PM. The reception will be open to parents and guests.
  • 9/11 Project with a local artist
    • This project will be introduced by Ms. Meyer
  • Fine Arts Signing Day
  • For the first year, we are publicly acknowledging students who are pursuing art in college.
  • If you have been accepted and/ or received a scholarship based on your portfolio, see Ms. Haslett asap.
  • The signing event will take place on Wednesday May 3rd at 7:00 AM (location- TBD)

  • March 8- Youth Art Month
    • Cord and Tassel orders will be due for seniors March 15th. Order forms offered in the Feb. 8th.
  • April 12- (note the presentations for cords and tassels will be moved to our end of the year celebration)
  • May 10- All hours are DUE for all members
    • End of the Year Celebration

  • Artist Trading Cards (This is replacing Free Art Friday)
    • 1 card creation + a Tweeted picture = ½ service hour
    • Create a card on 3×4 Bristol Board, Poster Board, watercolor paper or other material. You can use a different size, but the 3×4 size is the same as sports, Pokemon, Magic or other trading cards.
    • Your design can be a something like a journal page, creative doodle or mini artwork.
    • Make sure the artwork is positive in content.
    • On the back write: Your Name and Twitter: @MHS_VisualArts
    • Take a picture of your creation and Tweet the picture using @MHS_VisualArts (include your name and #artisttradingcards)
    • Trade with friends or give one as a gift. Enjoy.
    • Make more and trade more!!
    • We need volunteers for the Atlanta High School Art Exhibition at the Dogwood Festival at Piedmont Park on April 9th. Times TBD. Please, see me or Ms. Meyer if you are available. Any NAHS members are welcome to volunteer.
